What a summer we had!  The weather was terrific which provide for a lot of fun for all the boaters and sun worshipers. The nice weather also provided the marina with good fuel sales and a fair amount of slip rentals.  Water levels were good which gave the sail boaters piece of mind as they moved about the marina.  With the good water level there was no talk of dredging and that is talk good not to hear.  As September arrived someone flipped the switch and the weather turned sour for boating and almost anything else that might go on around a marina.  October is starting out to be much as a normal Michigan October is expected to be.  It would be hard to say anything bad about this boating season though some might request the wind be dialed down a notch next year.

We had a great crew this year and they all did a great job.  We hope to see them all next season.

The summer brought some fun times with 4th of July, the Annual Pig Roast, Labor day and third Annual Chile Cook Off.  The weather for the Chile Cook Off was cold and rainy but that didn’t dampen the spirit and a lot of fun was had.

The nice weather this summer brought a variety of vessels to visit this end of the lake.  The Cracker Bay made a trip to Boyne City as did the famous tall ship The Pride of Boston.  The Pride of Boston and another tall ship were here for a day or two when they left treted us to a couple of shots of the deck gun. What a boom!

Then there was the State of Michigan training vessel from the Maritime Academy that came down to Boyne City and spent the night at anchor for a little R&R for the crew.  To have the big vessels stop by reminds us that we are part of the big waters.  Nice to those vessels visit to Boyne City.

October has started with the next set of docks being replaced.  The peninsula get the new docks this year and the Flotation crew is about half done as I type.

The new style 60 foot docks have the end spuds concealed inside the docks which will keep the nasty metal fixtures away from the boat hulls.  This design is an ounce of prevention that will certainly save owners a repair bill sooner or later.

This is the weekend for the Apple Fest in Charlevoix and a few of the hardy boaters have departed and are spending the last trip of the season in Charlevoix.  The weather looks good for them and their trip home should be a pleasant trip. Any other trips being made now will be to winter storage.  Good bye summer 2010.

Don’t forget to take a peek at the web cam from time to time. The Harborage Marina Condo Association board of directors and the staff wish all a safe and fun filled winter season and look forward to seeing everyone in the spring.
